been talking about and that he hoped for he said it is a serious down payment on the deficit. >> this process has been messy and it's taken too long. nevertheless, ultimately the leaders of both parties have found a way toward compromise. a deal will raise the nation's debt ceiling until 2015 and also promise cuts of $2 billion. a second debt limit increase would prompt one of three scenarios. first a bipart bipartisan committee would have to save

1.5 trillion in 10 years. if not, they must send it to the senate for consideration. the deal would force across the board cuts to government spending including defense and medicare of at least $1.3 trillion. >> to pass this settlement it'll need the support of dell krapts and republican -- of democrats and republicans in the senate. there's no way either party can do it alone. >> reporter: reaching this point has been difficult. especial little for boehner. >> and we can assure the american people tonight that the unite of america will not for the first time in our history default on its obligations. >> reporter: -r and president obama urged members of both parties in both houses to complete the house and approve the deal. and tomorrow the leaders of the democratic and republican

parties will be meeting with the caucuses presenting the deal. it's a little murky on how they're going to schedule a vote. we are going to talk about that more tomorrow. >> it's the middle of the trading day in asian. japan's widely followed nikkei is almost up 22%. china ease composite index is also up by 25%. and while the pieces may be in place to reduce the u.s. deficit and avoid default. until the deal passes both houses there's still a great deal of concern. >> sundays are open house day in the real estate market. >> this is a craft man style house. >> reporter: real estate broker kelson said the real education -- nelson said the real estate

innocent. the trio was arrested two years ago. shourd was released last year on bail and refused to return to the trial. three more people lost their lives on the streets of oakland this weekend. patti lee has what offices are saying. >> reporter: i received confirmation that these two cases were not connected. they're talks to witnesses, they're identifying suspects but so far no arrests. >> we heard shots like real, like boom boom a lot of gunshots. and i just started screaming and saying, the gun is outside. >> reporter: bullets shattered windows and several hit nijon. >> he came in the door and said he was hit.

i thought he was playing at first. >> reporter: the teenager later died at the hospital. and that midnight ambush marked the beginning of a deadly night. around 3:00 a.m. a 26-year-old woman was shot. 20 minutes later a 21-year-old man was hit in a hail of bullets on 87 avenue an g street. both victims died from their wounds. >> it needs to stop. the guns need to be put away. so we can save our children. >> reporter: 2010 was the fourth consecutive year of declining homicide rates in oakland. 2011 a disappointing departure from that trend. >> it's terrible. it's an atrocious situation. >> we don't know what happened

beck privately exonerated this man giovanni ramirez earlier this month. in an editorial published in the los angeles time this week end, beck expressed his regret for ramirez name and picture being released to the public. he wrote quote regrettably giovanni ramirez was caught between the state's right to investigate and the public's right. but we met our burden of proof and the media showcased our side of the story. we want to show you 1988 polaroid of repair work. a pinhole sized leak was discovered on the pipe nine miles from the san bruno blast site. the exact location of the leak on that pipe is in dispute.

pg & e's own report sites the 1982 leak being on a longitude weld. a preliminary ntsb report on the san bruno blast says the explosion occurred along a weld. emergency officials still have not determined how much hazardous material leaked into the soil. 11,000-gallons of a high concentration of bleach and chlorine leaked yesterday from the tang of a hennessey water treatment plan. hazmat crews were able to contain the spill and keep it from getting into near by concrete and the water supply. native american protesters have vacated a vallejo park after three months of round the clock vigils. a woman tells ktvu she considers the agreement to be a

if you have a burning desire to make it to burning man this year, tickets are sold out. while there are tickets on sale on several websites such as craigslist. burning man warn of scams. they say there are numerous cases of people selling fake tickets. they ask people to check the burning man website. there they offer advice on how to make sure the ticket you are buying is authentic. firefighters are helping contain a wild burning fire tonight. the bane fire has burned 600 acres since it started yesterday afternoon. it's now 40% contained. several buildings have been evacuated near by roads are also shut down because of people trying to catch a glimpse of the flames. officials believe the fire was started by a person, no word on if they suspect it was arson or

an accident. in news of the world tonight, in syria human rights activists say government troops fired on protesters today leaving at least 75 people dead. president obama condemned the attacks by president alasan's troops saying he was apauled at the brutality. the highest hit area was the city of hamas. the father of the current syrian president sent troops into hamas to quail an uprising. from mexico tonight a former police officer who authorities say confessed to ordering 1,500 killings as head of a drug gang is now in custody. jose antonio acosta hernandez is also suspected of planning last year's attack that killed a u.s. consulate employee, her husband and another man. employees call acosta the biggest blow on crime. and in afghanistan, the taliban is claiming

responsibility for a car bomb today that killed as many as 12 afghan police officers and a child. the suicide attack was carried out in the capital. over a week ago forces took over responsibility in that care from western troops. questions about contractor over billing in iraq. in a report released this weekend, the inspector general said the u.s. is being billed by contractors in iraq. the report pointed out imham who charged $75 for a drainpipe valueded at $1.41. in all the inspector general said there was substantial questions about $4 million of spending out of the $11 million in contract costs it reviewed. >> you're in the middle of a war zone. a lot of procedures are short

employer confidence, a new job survey shows there's not a lot of it out there. maureen naylor tonight explain it is lingering anxiety over the recovery. >> reporter: at the jack london square farmers market is a vendor scared of the economy. >> i'm hoping things will get better. >> reporter: a new bloomburg survey shows that the economy probably failed to create more jobs. >> i'm in a masters program and there's a lot of people looking for work and i'm anticipating there will be some positions when they get out of the program. >> reporter: economists say we need to create 150,000 jobs every month just to stay even and that we're falling far

weekend of july with some what chilly numbers out there. the fog has been cooling us off and really not a big change in the over all weather pattern over the next few days. right now the maps on live storm tracker 2. no storms out there but the clouds have been increasing. santa rosa at the airport reporting mostly cloudy skies at last check. the clouds will continue to be on the increase as we do head into the overnight hours. this was a scene today looking out toward oakland, clouds on the increase. plenty of breaks but those clouds beginning to thicken up right now. and that will be a big part of our weather forecast for tonight. fog will continue with the increase, clearing skies to near the coast. no major changes here. cool temperatures for the beaches and still some warm numbers showing up inland. first thing tomorrow morning, low clouds and some drizzle out there especially coast side. we're going to start out monday morning, most areas in the low

to mid-60s. sat satellite in the area, there is a very small system to the southwest of the bay area that will be moving on shore tonight. there was a little bit of concern that it could trigger an isolated thunderstorms. it looks like it'll be a few high clouds in addition to the low clouds we're dealing with right now. over the next few days the few extremes, high pressure to our east and also low pressure to our north and west. and those lows are going to win out over the next few days. with that cool temperatures for the beaches. those temperatures only in the upper 50s to 60 degrees. the inland spots, clearing skies. temperatures back up into the mid-80s but no major heat in the forecast. here's our model showing you the cloud cover, first thing tomorrow morning. widespread overcast pulling into the coastline. and that is all we reflected in the forecast for tomorrow
